I have been seeing a lot of remixes by Swedish producer Linus Eklow, aka. Style of Eye, in the blogosphere lately. Which normally would be great thing. However, I have been disappointed by the quality of them. So far, my favorite track by Style of Eye continues to be “Last Song” from the Duck Cover and Hold album released on Ultra. Enjoy
Modeselektor recently released two remixes of Bjork’s “Dull Flame of Desire.” One remix “For Girls” and another one “For Boys.” Download the version for boys HERE. Peace & Beats

What a gay title for this post. I know. I just couldn’t resist. Anyways, to tie in with my previous post, the Chemical Brother’s new album Brotherhood comes on the 1st of September. I have high hopes for it. They never seem to disappoint considering the amount of commercial success they have had. In the meantime, here is a free Mp3 of “Hey Boy, Hey Girl” I received from the Chemical Brothers remixed by the Dewali brothers (aka 2 Many DJs/Soulwax). Still waiting on the official release of MGMT’s “Kids” by Soulwax though. Peace & Beats
The Chemical Brothers – Hey Boy, Hey Girl (Soulwax 2ManyDJ’s Remix)
The 14th anniversary of nocturnal wonderland is just a few weeks away. I am not sure if you will believe this or not, but Paul van Dyke actually isn’t headlining! That makes me so excited you have no idea. I am so sick of that guy, and the other major trance acts, hogging America’s dance music spot light. Seriously, what if there was a massive with headliners a long the lines of Booka Shade or Gui Boratto. I think that would be pretty cool. Of course the headliner on what I presume will be the main stage is Above & Beyond. Lame considering last year they had The Chemical Brothers who have some of the best visuals since Pink Floyd’s lazer shows in the 70’s. But, surprisingly another stage has Richie Hawtin headlining. However, I am not sure if that is the case or not because the set times have yet to be released and it seems like Dubfire, also playing in the same room, would be the most likely headliner for this type of crowd. Other notable acts performing are Dubfire’s sidekick Sharam, Digitalism (Live), So Me, Le Castle Vania, Claude Vonstroke, Infected Mushroom (Live), Christopher Lawrence and Planet of the Drums (aka one of the few DnB groups I know). I used to not give the Crookers the credit they deserved. Well, depending on how much you think they actually deserve. I am pretty sure I bashed on them in one of my previous posts. Needless to say, I am either a hypocrite or just plain stubborn, because their remix of Kid Cudie’s “Day ‘N Nite” is off the chain. It was released earlier this summer on A-Track’s Fools Gold record label. It is much better track than most of the ones the other records labels got from the Crookers. Peace & Beats

GENRE: ELECTRO HOUSE

Kompakt, the label for electronic big whigs like SuperMayer, SuperPitcher, and my personal favorite, Gui Boratto, has just released their 9th mix compilation titled Total 9. The tracks on this album seem to bit slower than some of their past compilations. Too slow for the big dance floors. Why expect that in the first place? Kompakt always give off a darker vibe than other popular labels. But, isn’t that what separates them from the more dance floor friendly labels, such as, Ed Banger and Kitsune. Whether Kompakt is better than the other two? That depends on what you are judging them on. If it is by the quality of their most recent mix compilations, then, Kompakt is clearly the winner. So, if you’re looking for an album to chill out to, this is it. Everyone needs some good night music to crash to every now and then. Peace & Beats

Great song. I used to listen to it when his EP was released earlier this year. Along with his other song “Firewire.”
RATING: 4 STARS
Matias Aguayo – Minimal (DJ Koze Remix) [Kompakt] Zshare
The DJ Koze version of “Minimal” isn’t on Kompakt’s Total 9 but it is a stellar remix and I could easily see it becoming huge on the Indie dancefloors across the globe. Check it out. If you don’t like it I will be amazed. The vocals are insanely catchy.
RATING: 5 STARS

Christian Burkhard – Doubledub [Raum...Musik]
German producer releases 2nd LP. ”Doubledub” is the best track from Christian Burkhardt’s LP, also titled, Doubledub. It starts off with a smooth rolling bass and only gets better once the looped and filtered vocals enter. It has a cool French feel to it. It reminds me of the Briggtte Bardot song “Contact”, which can be found on Booka Shade’s DJ Kicks album. Check it out.

Simian Mobile Disco – Sleep Deprevation (Simon Baker Remix) [Wichita Recordings]
SMD recently released Sample and Hold (Attack Sustain Decay Remixes). Continuing with a tech-house theme; I am posting the Simon Baker remix of “Sleep Deprivation.” The song doesn’t overwhelm you or progress too much, but has an enjoyable, and what I like to call upbeat minimal, feel to it. If you have the spare cash, I would also recommend purchasing Pinch’s dubstep remix of I believe. If you dig Pinch then give his album Underwater Dancehall a listen, or Burial’s Untrue.

Probspot – Stalker (Fine Taste Remix) [Curvve]
Fine Taste, a duo from the Netherlands, have only been working together for about two years apparently have already developed the skill to make good tunes. That is exactly what Fine Taste did with their remix of “Stalker.” I can’t wait to hear what kind of tunes they will be making two years from now.
GENRE: PROGRESSIVE HOUSE
RATING: 4 STARS
Today I am posting two amazingly lovely progressive house tracks. The first is from German producer Klaas. I just recently found out about Klaas after his great remix of “Where’s Your Head At.” This guy is going to have a huge year if it continues the way it has been going for him. His remix of Guru Josh Project’s is simply one of those beautiful rave songs I have ever heard (at least for now). However, I don’t think everyone will agree. Ah well, at least im sure everyone could agree the title of the track kind of sounds like it could be the name to a rave. Too bad I don’t see this guy coming to play in America for awhile.
Guru Josh Project – Infinity 2008 (Klass Remix)
The second track is by a duo from Amsterdam that go by the name of 16 Bit Lolitas. It is just as peaceful as the other one I posted today. I love the swirling sound of the vocals. I can’t wait to check out some more of their stuff. Peace & Beats
Is it just me or are all the hot techno producers/DJs out there from either France, Germany, or Britain? I know there are plenty or talented American acts, but for some reason foreign acts seem to get my attention more. I am starting my list of hot techno tracks for the week with Maxime Dangles. He is a growing DJ from France with a the nice EP out Speicher 59. Both tracks on the Kompakt Extra release have a nice and dark techno vibe to them, but if you’re going to buy just one track from Beatport, I would have to suggest “Tulipa”.
Maxime Dangles – Tulipa [Kompakt Extra] Zshare
If you don’t know anything about Dusty Kid, and are a fan of the techno genre, then I suggest you go out and purchase as much music of his as you can. The guy is simply superb. If you guys like his stuff then let me know and I will post some of my other favorite tracks by him including the other electro house hit Tsunamy from the EP.
Dusty Kid – Milk [Systematic] Zshare
I am going to finish off Techno Thursday with “probably the most played Techno track in history, “The Bells” has become the anthem for our sonic generation. Whenever heard, the response is typically euphoric and even today, it continues to serve as the climax of countless events, raves and parties starting a decade ago” according to boomkat.com. I agree with the fact that this Detroit local is one of the most influencial techno DJs of all times. Happy 10th anniversary to Jeff Mills and “The Bells.” Peace & Beats
